       Welcome to Faculty Academic Advising

Students must see an advisor or counselor before registering if:

  • They wish to register for 18 or more credit hours.

  • They have an Academic Intervention Hold (Caution, Warning or Suspension) because of low grades, which must be resolved in person before registering.

  • They are home-schooled.

  • Their assessment scores are below college level.

  • They are here on an F-1 Visa (see an International Student Representative in Admissions).
All students are strongly urged to see an academic advisor (teaching faculty or divisional counselor) before registering. The advisor can give you specific information about programs or areas of study, including certificate/degree requirements and transfer information.

For those students uncertain about which area of study or program goal to pursue, who are changing their educational directions or are transferring to a new program or degree concentration, academic advisors can help guide them in the right direction. For students who have already determined their educational goals, but have questions specific to program requirements, or about curricular options, academic advisors are available to answer these.

Academic advisors are available on a walk-in basis during Registration periods. They are also available by appointment during their office hours.

For more information or for a referral to other support services, contact John Rinke.
