Instructional Web Sites
WCC provides two types of Instructional Websites, Blackboard and Non-Blackboard. Faculty may have either one
or more Blackboard websites and/or one Non-Blackboard website.
Blackboard Instructional Website:
- Blackboard is a commercial web-based
course management system that WCC faculty can use to produce a website to
provide information to their students. Students must have a Blackboard account
and be registered for the class in order to enter the site. Blackboard is
organized around one website per course and faculty can have more than one
Blackboard website. Blackboard provides faculty with templates to quickly
develop their website; faculty can also develop their own web pages and incorporate
them into their Blackboard site. Online testing, chat, and forums are also
available through Blackboard. For further information visit the
Blackboard (Instructor) FAQ website.
- To get an instructor account for a Blackboard website, go
to WCC Faculty Blackboard Website Request Form and follow the instructions.
- For Help: Contact Jared Slayton of the Distance Learning Department at
or 734-477-8724.
Non-Blackboard Instructional Website:
- WCC will provide a faculty member with space on the courses.wccnet.edu
web server where the instructor can develop his/her own Non-Blackboard Instructional
Website. Students and the general public can view these websites; no login
is required. "Student Desktop" websites (WCC-developed template-driven course
websites) are no longer being developed, but existing sites are still supported.
- To get an account so that you can set up your own Non-Blackboard Instructional Website, go to the
WCC Faculty Web Space Request Form and follow the instructions.
