¿Usted habla español?
Take a look at a map of the American continent. Spanish is the dominant language in most South American and Central American countries as well as Mexico. In the U.S., if English isn't your first language , chances are good that it is Spanish. And more people study Spanish than any other language. So if your answer to the opening question is no, consider some of these reasons for studying Spanish:

• Spanish is the world's second most widely spoken language

• More than 30 million people in the U.S. speak Spanish

• Spanish is the official language of 21 countries

• By 2002 over 15% of the U.S. population will be Hispanic
