1. What type of programs do you offer?

Students can earn an Associates degree. Classes are offered so that full-time students can complete the requirements in two years. Students may also earn a one year certificate in Baking and Pastry and Culinary Arts.

2. I have a varied work and family schedule. Is it possible to take classes on a part-time basis?

Yes. The Culinary Arts and Hospitality program offers day and afternoon labs, as well as classes in the evening.

3. How can I become certified as a culinarian through the American Culinary Federation?

Because the program is accredited through the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute, students who complete either the one year certificate or the two year Associates Degree with at least one year of work experience in the food service industry will become ACF certified culinarians.

4.Are there any laboratory fees?

No. Other than tuition and books, students are responsible for the expenses related to uniforms and certification (where applicable).

5. What about scholarships and financial aid opportunities?

The program as well as the college offers serveral financial aid and assistance programs based on individual needs. The program offers six departmental scholarships and WCC Foundation assistance based on academic excellence, need, and the career ambitions of the student.

6. What about job placement options for new students?

The culinary arts program has a strong relationship with the nonprofit sector and the private sector of business and industry in the Ann Arbor area. The program offers a job posting board for students interested in full, part time and summer work opportunities. Employment options are excellent for students in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, catering facilities, country clubs and other food service related operations.
